I've been in jewelry for a very long time - I can not think of another time when I've seen a Rhodochrosite cabochon in a gold plated finding. Generally they are always set into sterling. That said this is a very very pretty finding with rose and gold leaf. Tiny floral accents. The colors of the rock are just outstanding. The polishing is beautiful. There is a tiny fracture on the top - Mother Nature has a sense of humor sometimes. I never actualy noticed it before until I shot the pictures. It does not affect the structure of the cabochon itself. I personally would have set this one into a pendant not a pin but it is so beautiful I chose to leave it. It measures 1 5/8" long. No wear to this one and of course it's the only one I have.
