Only one I have left - from my original Luxor hotel line - purchased in Egypt in the eary 90's. The ankh is just a tad over 2 inches long - stamped on the backside 925. Solid cast not hollow - slightly crude around the bezel. I actually went to a few of the workshops upstairs in the Bizarre which was a rare priviledge for me. Their tools were fairly simple and their spaces sparce. The natural blue chalcedony is a finely cared scarab with a lovely solid color.
THE MAIN SYMBOL FOR THE ANCIENT EGYPTIAN RELIGION WOULD BE THE ANKH, SIGNIFYING ETERNAL LIFE - THE ANKH LOOKS LIKE A CROSS BUT WITH A LOOP AT THE TOP - THE SYMBOL OF THE EGYPTIAN ANKH WAS USED BY EARLY CHRISTIANS THAT IS TO SAY THE CROSS SYMBOL IS DERIVED FROM THE ANCIENT EGYPTIAN ANKH - I HAVE MANY OTHER EGYPT EGYPTIAN CROSS ITEMS IN THE Shop...
Some added info on the Ankh The ankh is the hieroglyphic sign for life and it symbolized eternal, divine existence. As a symbol of such an imperishable and vital force, the ankh was found thought-out ancient Egypt, carved in the wall of the temples and tombs as well as adorning personal items in every household.
