Going thru alot of my real treasures today. This piece I bought in Aswan late 80's. Small antiquities shop in the alley by the Old Cataract Hotel. I actually have no idea how old it is. I've only ever seen 1 other like it. The spinner mechanism is quite intricate. The center orb has back facing King Tut busts - one on each inner side. The outer shell like casing has inscribed hieroglyphics that depict I believe Nefertiti. So the inner orb spins inside the larger circle frame. The orb itself measures 1 3/8". It has the usual Egyptian stamp on the bail. I have it on a 16" rather heavy sterling serpentine chain with a spring ring clasp. Also stamped Italy 925. The whole enchilada weights 13.7 grams so it's no shy thing. I have never worn or displayed this piece hoarder that I am. It's simply time to share with another Egypt lover.
