Beautiful pyrite sun dollar - wire wrapped - this one is immaculate. The "disc" measures 2" across. I put this one on a 24" high polished golden rop chain with a lobster clasp. The pyrite has no chips or blemishes and it just sparkles like the sun. Some call it fools gold - I call it beautiful - I've hung onto this one for a very long time - time for someone else to enjoy it. If you ever wanted one this is a fabulous example.
From the net in case you don't know: Call them Pyrite Suns, Pyrite Dollars, Miner’s Dollars, or even Sun Dollars; just don’t call them fossils. They may look like fossilized plants, but the crystal structures actually formed deep underground under great pressure about 350 million years ago. These round disks sometimes occur between seams of coal and may be found when coal is mined. Although pyrite is quite common worldwide, the disk form is virtually unique to Illinois, USA
