A charming set of 3 lusterware salt cellars. They are marked Noritake Made In Japan and the red M logo. These are peach on the inside and blue on the outside. They are a bit larger - not masters but larger than some I have seen for individuals. Each Cellar is: 1 1/2 inch in height and 2 1/4 inches in diameter. All the salt cellars are all in excellent condition. There are no chips, cracks, or crazing. Pristine condition
The title salt cellar comes from the 15th century and it combines the English word salt with the Anglo-Norman word saler so thus"salt-cellar". Salt cellars are known by assorted names including open salt, salt dip, standing salt, master salt, and salt dish. Soon after salt cellars lost their role at the table, by being replaced by the salt shaker, salt cellars became a popular collectible.
