Trust on the Internet - I know it's hard.

I sell a product on ebay that I've been selling for many years - I had a big supply - I'm actually running out of it now. I don't generally list it here because it just sells too fast for me on ebay. So anyway - I had a buyer ask me yesterday if I could please take that item outside (you know where it's 110 degrees) and re shoot the pictures in the direct sunlight. I told her I would.

As soon as I had gathered up my camera - the supplies required (staging yada yada) got dressed - laid everything out I remembered why I don't do that.  We have very strong sun here. I'd tried that a long time ago and it just washes out the colors.  Gave up.

So this morning I'm think about this buyer - a newbie - small feedback. Good feedback but a newbie. I am so descriptive in my listings - I write every danged thing I can think of to describe the item - measurements - colors - age - and if the picture doesn't come out right I shoot it again.

I also tell the buyer if they think anything is "fishy" about my listing please just pass on buying it. It's something there's ton's of on ebay.  It doesn't hurt me to lose a sale. I'm not bankrupt - in foreclosure or getting my car repossessed.  I'd rather have a happy buyer than none at all.  The consequences of an unhappy buyer or scammer to the seller these days on eBay are so harsh now that I really would rather they pass. IN the eBay world of today you have to be a 100% perfect human being or you simply don't sell anything.

For those of you that think eBay is a cushy stay at home job in your PJ's - those days are long gone. I work so hard at my job there it's ridiculous. Fees are ever increasing - demands by eBay for perfect performance are never ending and they think up new hoops to jump thru everyday. Don't get me wrong - I'm happy there but I have to go with the flow of constant changes.

Then I got to thinking about this website - I do ok here but could always do better right? So why don't I? Is it a trust issue? The internet - selling and buying can be harsh. There's plenty of folks out there selling bad stuff - scammers - thieves. Generally they don't last too long.

I've been selling online for over 20 years now - on every site I ever sold on my feedback was always 100%. I don't need any "Upper" management to teach me how to treat my buyers. If I made a mistake - no one's perfect - I'll fix it. If your simply unhappy with your purchase - call me - the numbers on the site. Let's fix your problem. After 20 years ya outta trust me by now - just saying.
