Smaller but still nice desert rose specimen - selenite - there are 5 good formations and 2 more with flat sides from sitting - Desert rose is the colloquial name given to rose-like formations of crystal clusters of gypsum or baryte which include abundant sand grains. The 'petals' are crystals flattened on the c crystallographic axis, fanning open in radiating flattened crystal clusters. I love them - their little beautiful works of art made by Mother Nature. Found in dry, desert regions, each one is said to contain a unique spirit guardian. They have traditionally been used as talismans for protection, overcoming phobias and to help boost self confidence. Lovely
